day 2014: same shit, different day
human hubris makes men worship
gods created in their image
their anger and hatred made holy
when attributed to a domineering
father god.
so much has been destroyed in gods'
names;
we should cringe from the day's news
of the belligerent posturing of boys
dressed up as men, playing
with human lives as if they were
plastic figures,
killing and dying to defend
arbitrary borders,
lines drawn in sand soaked with blood
both innocent and corrupt
Nature doesn't differentiate:
she maintains silent equanimity
while turning blood to nutrients,
bones to fertilizer, graveyards to
grass
a hundred years from now, will other
voices ask
where have all
the young men gone gone?
