of McDonald Park
unseen cherubim swings
as Pasadena parrots off key sing
On other side southwestern
seraphim slowly switches
sycamore leaves from green
to reddish-yellow
Under San Gabriel Mountains
partly covered by ashen clouds
northwestern angel shares
sentry duty with foothill fir
On northeast corner aging
archangel stands on aching arches
and wonders if there’s a God
beyond chilly gray dome
